الشيخ منير بن حسن عسيران، ولد في صيدا عام 1870م، ينتمي لعائلة علم وثراء؛ جده الحاج محمد كان من أهل العلم، ووالده الحاج حسن كان ثرياً يملك أكثر من 20 قرية.
بدأ دراسته في الإرساليات المسيحية، ثم انتقل إلى النجف (حتى عام 1905م) ودرس على يد علمائها كالسيد محسن الأمين. أتقن 4 لغات: العربية، الفارسية، الفرنسية، والتركية.
* 1926م: عُيّن رئيساً لـ محكمة التمييز الجعفرية في لبنان.
* 1929م: عُيّن عضواً في المجمع العلمي اللبناني.
* تولى رئاسة جمعية العلماء العاملية، وكان داعماً لجمعية المقاصد الخيرية الإسلامية في النبطية.
* نسّق مع عبد الكريم الخليل لدعم الوحدة العربية، واعتقله العثمانيون عام 1915م وحوكم في "الديوان العرفي" بعاليه قبل إطلاق سراحه.
* أبرز المؤلفات:
1- تعديل الميزان (في النقد الفقهي والحديثي).
2- كشف الستار في رد ما كتبه صاحب المنار.
3- حديقة الأدباء.
4- كاشفة اللثام عن حلية المتعة في الإسلام.
توفي في عام 1948 ميلادي.
Sheikh Mounir bin Hassan Osseiran was born in Sidon in 1870. He belonged to a family of both scholarship and wealth; his grandfather, Haj Muhammad, was a man of knowledge, and his father, Haj Hassan, was a wealthy man who owned more than 20 villages. He began his education at Christian missionary schools before moving to Najaf (where he remained until 1905) to study under its prominent scholars, such as Sayyid Muhsin al-Amin. He mastered four languages: Arabic, Persian, French, and Turkish.
Official & Social Roles1926: Appointed President of the Ja'fari Court of Cassation in Lebanon.1929: Appointed as a member of the Lebanese Scientific Academy.He assumed the presidency of the Amiliya Ulema Association and was a strong supporter of the Islamic Maqasid Charitable Association in Nabatieh.
Political Activity He coordinated with Abdul Karim al-Khalil to support Arab unity. In 1915, he was arrested by the Ottomans and tried before the "Martial Court" (Al-Diwan Al-Urfi) in Aley before being released.

1*- Ta'deel al-Meezan (A critique on jurisprudence and Hadith).
2- Kashf al-Sitar fi Radd ma Katabahu Sahib al-Manar (Unveiling the Curtain: A Refutation of the Author of Al-Manar).
3- Hadiqate al-Udaba' (The Garden of Writers).
4- Kashifat al-Litham 'an Hiliyat al-Mut'ah fil-Islam (Removing the Veil: On the Lawfulness of Mut'ah Marriage in Islam).
He passed away in the year 1948 AD.
